Beside the Manor Selby

Beside the Manor Selby is a period drama taking place in the Edwardian era. Ellsworth wrote, directed and scored this lavish production. Location shooting began on June 5th, 2007 and principle photography on June 26th.

The story revolves around the inhabitants of the Manor Selby in and their ties with the "developing theatre of horrors," i.e. the war in Europe.

Scenes with cult actor Conrad Brooks were shot on July 7th, 2007. Seen with director Ellsworth Hall on location (left), Conrad plays the Manor Selby's gardener who dispenses seemingly inane pronouncements which are much more meaningful than they at first appear to be.

Veteran Baltimore actor George Stover (Polyester, Hairspray) portrays the character of Mr. Wedgewicke and actor/director Joseph M. Dwyer plays the mysterious Captain Vashnic, a survivor whose automobile was hit by a bomb during the first assassination attempt of the Austrian Archduke on the streets of Sarajevo in 1914.

Ellsworth also painted the portrait of George Edgar Selby which will appear on the album cover.

The production features music which will appear on Ellsworth's classical album Conversations with George Edgar Selby. The CD will feature the three-movement piece The Blind Potentate . Ellsworth performs on a Steinway grand piano along with the vibrant sound of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. A sample of the music can be heard here:

Whale, Man and God

A scene from Whale, Man and God

Concerning the physiology of this production, one must note Whale, Man and God serves as the impetus of an excursion into the realm of Lamaleran history and folklore; but more importantly as an allegory of the world of mythic jurisprudence with the struggle of the hunters in an environment where the disadvantages were many. The production brilliantly conveys this allegory.
